America and the Great Disappointment
He’s proud of cutting the budget at expense of poor and at no cost to corporate America. What will Obama say next? I was considering having myself dusted with ash and measured for sackcloth last week, so many are the current predictions of impending apocalypse.
Mayans, 2012 and the end of the world
Some believe that the ancient Mayans have predicted that our world will end in 2012. I tend to agree with them. There was a rather adolescent disaster movie made a couple years ago that attempted to capitalize with a particularly traumatic version of the approaching date. But besides the special effect of a huge wave cresting over the Himalayas, silencing the world’s highest bell, the film was a dud in my opinion.
Teotwawki coming soon to a region near you
Teotwawki – or The End of the World as We Know It – is a perennially popular subject (and has been for millennia despite the failure of so many eschatological forecasts dating back into prehistory) which was given a huge boost in popularity with the advent of Christianity and the dubious prophecies contained in The Book of Revelations.
Is the end near?
For those of you living under a rock (I know it’s dark under there, but squint and you should be able to read this type), there’s been some rumblings going on about the end of the world, as in it may be near. Haven’t you heard? Supposedly the Mayan calendar quits at Dec. 21, 2012. That has led more than a few to “research” and declare that yes, indeed, all life on planet Earth will end on that date.
NASA SCIENTIST SPEAKS THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT THE YEAR “2012″
NASA scientist “David Morrison’ STATES: “There is no threat to Earth in 2012.
A look at the ways the world could end
Think you’ve got a prediction for when and how the world will end? Get in line. A caravan of RVs is now touring the country to warn people about the end of the world (they say it will happen May 21), but they’re hardly the first ones to embark on such a mission.
The world to end on 21st May 2011
So the world is coming to an end. If the movie “2012″ was not enough to predict the end of the world, there are now four forces to reckon with. The four forces believe with utmost certainty that the rapture of the human kind is going to take place on the 21st May 2011.
2011 Dates of Destruction? March 19, May 21, Oct. 21
It’s an astronomical fact that March 19 will see a lunar perigee — a time when the Earth’s moon will come into its closest point in orbit to the Earth. The lunar perigee that will occur on March 19 has been dubbed by one astrologer, Richard Nolle, as an “extreme supermoon” because not only will it be at perigee, it will also be a full moon and it will be at its closest point to our planet in 18 years. According to Nolle, this particular combination will trigger an increase in natural disasters.
Is 2012 the end of the world as we know it?
There has been a lot of talk about the Mayan calendar and, since it ends on Dec. 21, 2012, whether that is the end of the world or not. Now, I can guarantee that the “Mother Goose and Grim” from October 10th, that spoofs the Mayans by saying that “that’s when Brett Favre will retire,” is NOT what will happen.
Apocalypse nearing? Time for a mani-pedi and color and cut
The world is in turmoil. Uprisings, natural disasters and solar flares give credibility to doomsday theories that the Mayan calendar foretells the world could end Dec. 21, 2012. Yikes! That gives me less than two years to complete my bucket list
